If you want to find out more about the growing refugee problem in Israel, here’s your chance to make contact with some of Tel Aviv’s asylum seekers without having to commit to any volunteer work. The hotline for migrant workers has just started the “Open Homes” project. It’s organising visits in asylum seekers’ homes, so you can hear their stories firsthand, speak with them and learn about the reality of their lives here and back in their home countries. If you live in Tel Aviv, it’s a great opportunity to get to know more about your new neighbours and stop seeing them as some sort of a nasty threat. As a visitor, it can offer insights into the complexity of life in Israel.
Tours are free but you need to register in advance. The first one will be on 26/3 (a Saturday). Sign up by mailing: tours@hotline.org.il
