Good morning, happy campers! Here are your party choices for this weekend, starting, of course, tonight.
First up, the Mesibat Kita Daled (4th grade party) people are having one of their nights at the Maxim Club tonight with resident Idan Gavriel playing an awesome 6 hour long set of everything from new wave to pop, kitsch, Eurotrash, Italo disco, 80s nostalgia, etc.. Tickets are 30-50NIS on the door, starts at 23:00 or so and goes on till morning. Great crowd guaranteed.
Friday’s looking pretty awesome.
If you like techno, then check out what’s going on at The Block, where Gesaffelstein from France will be playing alongside Perfect Stranger and a bunch of other talented locals. Tickets are 90NIS on the door, or 60NIS if you buy in advance from Michatronix, Deli, The Miznon (restaurant), Plazma (clothing store) or Ben Yehuda 140. Check out the link to the Youtube video I put. It’s actually giving me sexual pleasure. 23:30 till morning.
Or if you’re more into Berlin style house & techno, you should go to the Breakfast club, where Falco Brocksieper will be headlining Pacotek. Night starts at 23:00 goes on till morning. Not sure about the ticket price but it’s never expensive.
But don’t worry if techno’s not your thing, because there’s both dubstep and drum and bass going on as well as all kinds of other things.
Sensi Sound are bringing jungle to the confines of the Ozen Bar and tickets are only 30-40NIS (30 if you’re there in the first hour). Lots of good DJs, lots of good music. 00:30 – morning.
And for dubstep, head over to the Kidz Up Late party, which is oddly happening at the TLV club, which is usually not known for being cool and underground. In fact, it’s normally so not cool that it’s not even in the guide (it’s in the Tel Aviv port area). Kidz Up Late, on the other hand, are cool, so there’ll be a wicked crowd and it’s going to be a big big party. It’s their 5th birthday.
DJs: ORI SHOCHAT
NASTY HABIT
WALTER
SUBMOB CREW
SHEKEL
PIPE
IVY
on d mic: OTG
Tickets on the door, 50NIS before 1:00 (doors at 23:30).
At the Tonik at Ahad Ha’am 54, 30NIS will get you into “Play music selecta!” where the awesome Kalbata & Hectik will be blasting Jamaican style rub-a-dub, roots, dub and other bassy goodies with a whole bunch of talented friends.
Hate bassy and electronic music? Then go to the Rogatka where there’ll be a multi-band punk night from 21:30.
The bands in question are:
Dilemma
Sakinim Baeinayim
Firetrucks Rally
Dig that anarchist, punk, queer, vegan vibe!
On Saturday, something completely different – electroswing! Swingotopia is back at the Milk Bar (the Breakfast Club’s top bar) for a sweet little night of retro-inspired fun. If you don’t know what electroswing is, it’s basically classic 20s-40s (and occasional 50s?) tunes reworked with a house beat. It’s fun. You can dress up in vintage clothes if you want to make it even more fun. 22:00-4:00 and it’s free all night long.
