Tomorrow (Thursday) night – Tel Aviv street party

Tomorrow, Thursday 7/1/2010 there will be a street party in Florentin to protest against the recent clampdown on street parties and even legal venues.
Come to Florentin from 8:00PM to party and support the good cause of allowing people in Tel Aviv to have some fun again.

There is no exact location yet, but I am guessing if you head for the centre of Florentin Street, west of Herzel, you’ll start to see some action.

Some background:

Officially, businesses in Tel Aviv are licensed to open till midnight and then have to apply for a licence to run for an extra hour. In practice, this has never been enforced and Tel Aviv enjoys late opening hours for all its bars and clubs with little or no police interference. This is, in my opinion, one of the things that make Tel Aviv great. Since last summer, the police have been clamping down not only on Florentin’s famous street parties, but also (as seen this NYE) on official, long-running venues and closing them down.

Come to this free Tel Aviv street party to say a big WTF??? to the Tel Aviv council and, obviously, to have a damn good time with it.
