As always, it fills my heart with joy to see Tel Aviv covered in rainbow flags and hear all the foreign languages spoken as happy LGBTQ people descend on my city. Pinkwashing, though, I could do without. Luckily, Tel Aviv’s LGBTQ activists are out in force this week, organising some very cool things. There are also a few decidedly alternative events where you can mingle with the city’s underground crowd. Here are some highlights.
Tonight (Thu)
Tonight (and tomorrow) visit the trendy Joz ve Loz restaurant and order one of several dishes and a particular cocktail to support an initiative helping LGBTQ asylum seekers and Palestinians. Details here.
*
Anna Loulou’s anti-pride party. Ass-shaking hip hop and stick & poke tattoos (if you get there at 20:00). Party from 20:00, free till 23:00, then 20NIS. Details here.
*
Trashy party and alternative drag night @ Zimmer from 21:00. Details here.
Friday Pride Day
Love pride but hate pinkwashing? join the anti-pinkwashing block and march together for LGBTQ rights while sending an anti-occupation, anti-exploitation message. Details here.
*
Alternative pride rave by the sea organised by local LGBTQ party people / activists using no city or government funds. All free. BYOB. Details here.
Saturday
Top tip: if you met someone hot at one of the above events and lost them, they’ll probably be at Kok Shok dancing to techno from 6AM on Sat morning (yes, that’s AM). Details here.

At night there’s this alternative drag open stage night @ Frenkel 12.
