More Tel Aviv Purim parties

party Of course, it was bound to happen that there would be more parties to write about. Some parties won’t be announced till the week of the holiday itself, but don’t worry. Your one stop blog for all things underground in Tel Aviv will keep reporting on anything cool that comes up. But for now, here are a couple more for you. One underground and one decidedly not, but free.

First up, you should all be aware of the fact that apart from the traditional Florentin street party the night of the 9th, there is also a council-organised “street” party (or shall we say, outdoor party) on the 9th from noon till…uh…evening at least. Don’t know that much about it apart from that it will feature some good local indie talent, so a good chance to see lots of cool local bands for free. It’ll be outside of the Tel Aviv Museum of art. I expect there to be bars, maybe some food, maybe a market of sorts. These parties are usually quite commercial – lots of sponsorship banners, expensive bar prices, etc. but hey, it’s free and if the weather’s nice then it can be quite fun. Of course, the Florentin street party is much more fun, if you know where to look (and I do and I told you in my last post 🙂 ).

And now for something completely different. The creme de la creme of Tel Aviv’s queer/vegan/anarchist/punk/raver scene will be gathering at a secret location (Shvil Hamifal 3) from 22:00-6:00 for a night called “biting the hand that feeds”. Electro, techno, rave, bass, breaks, all from some of the scene’s favourites – L.M. Krav, Maggot Faggot and Moshe Kutner (AKA Oi Boi, AKA Michelle Le Hysterik). Also, mad drag shows, hot visuals, make up corner for those who suck at making costumes, worst costume competition, actually cheap cheap booze (including cocktails), make out corner, fanzines and merch, vegan food and loads more. Not sure how much it costs but it won’t be expensive and all proceeds go to a local organisation helping refugees. Add this one to your party round. Show starts at 22:00, full on party from midnight. Dress code is “kiss/bite” whatever that means to you, but as usual in Tel Aviv, not strictly enforced (though do make some sort of effort. It’s Purim!)
