OK, it’s Saturday morning and I’m tired, but heere’s a quick heads up for you sci fi freaks. Icon TLV is starting tomorrow (1st Oct) and goes on till the 8th. It’s being held at the Tel Aviv Cinemateque and there will be lots of international film showings, some talks and various other things suitable for English speakers. Of course, in keeping with the general air of limited vision displayed by the predominantly Hebrew only Cinemateque website, you can’t find any info in English, which is a shame, cause there’s loads of it and I’m not going to write about everything. I’ll list some highlights and stuff, but I suggest you contact the Cinemateque and ask them about the rest, so maybe they’ll consider adding some English somewhere on their site for future things, cause hey, English speakers care.
Here are some of the Films, there are loads more, including many American independent films.
Robot & Frank (English), Antiviral (English), 22nd of May (Dutch, supposedly has English subtitles), EVA (Spanish, Hebrew subtitles only), Le Petit Poucet (French, English subtitles), Bell Flower (English), The Awakening (English), Lobos de Arga (Spanish, Hebrew subtitles).
Stuff is showing from afternoon till night daily during the festival, so maybe you can take a chance and see something weird. You can see a load of trailers for the participating films here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Icontlvfest
