HaTeiva in Yafo (see full guide for details) is having its annual 4 day marathon of experimental contemporary (classical, but modern) music and dance starting tomorrow. If you’re into that sort of thing (and you may have even come here looking for something specific from this list) then you’ll drool all over this. I don’t really know any of these things, but it sounds like it could be interesting for those in the know.
Sadly, their website is in Hebrew only, so I’ll give you a quick run down of events.
Tomorrow from 6-8PM there will be a lecture about Luigi Nono and the experimental studio. Speakers will be André Richard and Detlef Heusinger from the Freiburg Experimental Studio so I assume it will be in English, but check. The lecture will include live demonstrations. 30NIS.
Weds from 2-4PM there’ll be a free workshop for “young composers” with Thomas Hummel of the Experimental Studio. I have no idea what constitutes a young composer so if you want to go to this, you’ll need to check if you fit the bill.
Also on Weds, from 8:30PM, the opening concert with Freiburg Experimental Studio members plus the local residents, 21st Century Ensemble. 50-70NIS.
On Thurs there’ll be a “composers composing for young people” concert series with young musicians from various Israeli music schools (7:30PM, free).
Thursday at 8:00PM there’s a free experimental dance show called “moments” which will be accompanied by live clarinet.
At 9:00PM there’ll be an evening of John Cage and Domenico Scarlatti sonatas with pianist David Greilsammer (50-70NIS).
Friday will see a lighting installation by Tamar Or and the first ever showing of a new dance piece by Shir Maduzki (both together for 25NIS) then text / sound art by Josef Sprinzak from 7:30 (50-70NIS).
At 9:30 the place will play host to a night from the Hafarot Seder series with several performances of contemporary electronic and experimental music (some improvised and some composed, too many for me to list).
On Satruday, 21st Century Ensemble will play the closing night at 8:30PM (50-70NIS).
