A social justice walking tour of Jaffa on September 15th

Activism If you’re in town on the 15/9 and interested in local politics and social justice issues then this should of interest to you. A few local organisations, including the Jaffa tent protest camp and the Sheikh Jarrah solidarity movement are organising a tour of Arab Jaffa providing information about housing problems, gentrification and other issues affecting the local population. The Jaffa tent protest camp is a joint Arab-Israeli protest, organised by local residents. If you’re interested in what’s going on in Israel right now then there’s no better way to find out than to speak to the people most affected by things. The tour will start at 17:00 at Gan HaShnayim (Hashnayim Garden) in Jaffa and finish there at 19:30. It will be in Hebrew, so if you don’t speak Hebrew you’ll need to be ready to ask people to translate for you. Most Israelis speak good enough English to do so. This tour sounds interesting and rare enough to be worth the effort.

For more information about the tour, contact Lior on: 0523-666-474 or you could try posting questions on the Facebook event page. If you want to join the tour, you need to register in advance. Just hitting Attending on Facebook doesn’t count. Either ask how to do this by phone or try your luck with the Hebrew registration page.
