Even if you’ve never been to Tel Aviv before, this will make you nostalgic. Here are a bunch of photos of Tel Aviv from the 20s and 30s. Incredibly sharp and beautiful. It’s on someone’s Facebook page, so hopefully you’ll be able to see. Otherwise, please comment and let me know so I can take this off and maybe try to find another way of showing them. Most of them are probably copyright free, if not all.
Some of the buildings in the pictures still exist today. Some in good condition, some not. It made me realise how Tel Aviv used to be a properly designed city, before greedy property developers with no clue about their surroundings destroyed the skyline with crap. Look out for my soon to appear rant post about this issue, but for the time being you can enjoy the beauty that once was and that which might still remain.
The spirit of old Tel Aviv is what many people try to capture today in cafes, bars, restaurants and hotels. I think it’s one of the most unique and beautiful things that exist and it has a certain innocence about it that’s pretty precious.
