Tonight in Tel Aviv – a demo against police brutality and for social justice

activismTonight there’s yet another demo in Tel Aviv (surprising, I know). It’s at Habima Square at 22:00 and is a response to yesterday’s demo at the same place that resulted in some shocking scenes of police brutality (shocking because it doesn’t usually happen in Tel Aviv, but is generally used “only” against Palestinians). Now more people are seeing and feeling what activists have been saying for years – that the Israeli police is made out of asshole thugs and that the Israeli government and the Tel Aviv city council serve predominantly the tycoons who secretly bribe them. It’s probably not your fight, but if you are a part of the global Occupy movement or don’t like football (which is gonna be shown practically everywhere in town at that time), you may as well join in on the action. If you stay well enough back if things appear to get nasty then it should be perfectly safe. The police usually only go for people they see as “leaders” of the protest.
