This is what happens when 15,000 – 20,000 people (depending on who you ask) take to the streets and march in the name of democracy and against fascism. Things went a bit crazy for Tel Aviv demos, but nothing compared to the ones in East Jerusalem and Bil’in.
These were taken with my little camera. I wasn’t going to take any pictures, but we got caught up in a human chain aimed at stopping a prison van from driving off with someone who’d just got arrested under some lame guide (but really for waving a Palestinian flag, which is not illegal in this country but pisses off the police anyway). Some of the policemen were beginning to react violently to the non-violent resistance so I pulled out my camera mostly to flash it in their faces and make them realise they’re being watched. A lot of people did it and it seemed to make a little bit of a difference. I’m afraid one day soon public opinion will no longer be an effective weapon.
I kept my camera out and mostly flashed pics of the tops of policemen’s heads as I lifted the camera up to make sure they see the flash. There were enough incidents where this was useful. A few of the pics I quite like, though, so here they are.

The above isn’t blood. It looks like paint to me.
