Silwan tours – come see East Jerusalem reality this Passover

The Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity Movement is organising study tours to the East Jerusalem Palestinian village of Silwan, a place currently suffering from its interaction with extremely fanatical Jewish settlers. They are organising tours this Passover for people who want to meet village residents and gain an understanding of the situation. Tours are happening Wed (20/4) – Fri (22/4). English tours on Wed and Thurs at 13:00, though I’m guessing if you can’t make those, you can maybe join a Hebrew one and get someone to translate for you.
For registration and more info call: 0547485675 (but remember it’s a Jewish holiday tonight, so depending on who’s at the other end of the phone, you may not get an answer if you call in the evening).

The meeting point is in Jerusalem itself, but you may be able to get a lift from Tel Aviv with someone who’s going from here. If you’re in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv for the holiday, this is a good opportunity to learn about real life in the Israel Diaspora Jews (and Israelis) often don’t like talking about.
