At this moment in time, there are 20 Eritrean refugees trapped on Israeli soil between the new border fence and the old. The army won’t give them any food and the orders the soldiers have received are to give them “only a little water”. One of the Eritreans is a woman who was pregnant, but has miscarried as a result of being denied food and being stuck in the desert heat for 6 days. Another is a 14 year old boy. Tonight there is a demo from 18:30 – 20:30, outside of the government buildings on the corner of Kaplan and Begin (basically diagonally across the junction from the Azrieli Center). The demo will be calling for the state of Israel to respect international law (and basic humanity) and allow these poor people to receive food, water and medical aid.
