Yes, the olive harvest is still going on, in spite of the various problems caused by the government, the settlers, etc.
You can personally help Palestinian farmers harvest their olives alongside Israeli and Palestinian peace activists and the people of the village in question, Jit. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and really make a difference to the lives of those heavily affected by the Israeli occupation.
This is happening this Saturday (6th November 2010) and is organised by Peace Now and other peace organisations. There will be rides going from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Kfar Saba. For more details and to find out how to sign up, call Dana on 0542548480.
If, for some reason, you are in Kfar Saba, call Yaakov instead – 0505733276
Ask for what you need to bring with you when you go.
This event is NOT illegal. The Israeli security forces are aware of it, so you won’t be risking arrest or anything like that.
