I was too hungover to update the blog yesterday and now I am just marginally hungover so there ya go. Even though THE BEST HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR is now behind us, there’s loads of good stuff going on this week, as always.

 

Monday

There’s a world music festival going on at Levontin 7 till the 30th. Two shows a night, one at 20:00 and one at either 22:00 or 22:30. Sadly, all the info on their site is in Hebrew, but you can buy tickets there, use Google or call them up / go there and ask who’s playing.

Bint el Funk, the awesome local Yemenite groove act, are launching their debut album @ Barby from 20:30 (show at 22:00). 70NIS on the door.

Surprise gig by the one and only Mixmaster Morris @ Romano from 21:00. Yes, really really for real. Free. Expect it to be rammed, though if it rains, maybe not so rammed, because Israel.

Screening of Hedwig and the angry inch @ Anna Loulou Bar from 19:00. Free.

The weekly Disco Mahshi night of Middle Eastern music @ Pasaz from 22:00. Free.

Tuesday

Uganda Bar will have a pop up kitchen serving Vietnamese noodle bowls, both veggie and pork. From 18:00.

Jazz night @ Anna Loulou from 19:00. Happy hour from 19:00 – 21:00.

Wednesday

Jamaican rub a dub party @ Diego San from 21:00 – furniture out and everything. Free.

BPM Takeover @ Kuli Alma from 21:00 – graduates of Israel’s best electronic music academy, plus current students will DJ and play live. Loads of stuff to see. Maybe the stars of tomorrow, who knows? Free.

SANDR (Shelly and Rotem) bring their lovely melodic pop to Radio EPGB from 21:30. Free.

Open circus bar @ Bascula – drinks, music and a chance to try out some circus stuff (as long as you’re not drunk). Also, hot circus people. Free. From 19:00.

Indie Photography Group Gallery is holding a photobook fair starting at 19:00 and going on till Saturday. Thu 19:00 – 22:00, Fri 10:00 – 15:00, Sat 10:00 – 16:00. Lots of photography books for sale, for lovers of the genre.

Turkish night @ Pasaz from 22:00. Complete with Turkish singer. Free.

Shapira neighbourhood swap meet / fair from 11:00 @ the communal garden (Ysrael mi-salant 27). Till evening. Bring unwanted stuff, take other stuff. All free. Clothes, books, toys, seeds, even a stall selling home made booze. Also, music and stuff.

Merch day @ Uganda from 12:00 – lots of underground local labels selling records, CDs and other merch till about 17:00ish. Free to attend.

From 17:00, another neighbourhood event, this time in Shapira (Hizkiyahu Hamelech st) The Orions and Zeev Tene will play live and there will be booze and stuff. Free.
