Ladies and gents, it’s almost upon us – one of the biggest party nights in the Israeli calendar. Here are some choices to consider as you head off into town for a night of madness.
Wednesday night
First up, there’s the Barzilay Crew traditional roof party on Wed night. Nir Geffen, Deep’a & Biri and Gene will be playing tech-housey, groovy, ass-shaky electronic tunes+….on a rooftop. Gevulot 8 from 22:00-6:00. 30NIS till midnight, 50NIS after. This one will have a really great vibe, I reckon.
If you like psy-trance then head down to The Block, where BWB are having a massive night of local and international talent: Zen Mechanics, Kokmok, Captain Hook, U-Recken, Upgrade, High-M-Vectro, Bunny on acid, Bayawaka, Flowerz Power. 23:00-8:00. Free entry for everyone till 23:30, for women till 00:00, then 40-50NIS all night long.
Not too far from there, at the Central Bus Station’s car park (entrance from Matalon 93) the Margoza Rave are hosting some massive massive names in bass music and other electronic goodness (techno/house/more):
Soul Clap (Wolf + Lamb, US)
Oron K
Niv Hadas & Amir Egozy (Tapud/Botanika)
Red Axes Vs. Uriah (I’m a Cliche’ / NEWS)
Mosca (Night Slugs, UK)
Yogo (The Block)
Kisluk (106 FM)
Walter (Tabac)
Tickets from here (top left hand corner for some English) or the Shesek Bar. 70NIS advance, 80NIS on the door if there are any left.
At the Maxim club is a 90s party (Ace of Base, Gala, Snap, Haddaway, Dr.Alban, Rozalla, East 17, Captain Hollywood Project, Culture Beat, The Shamen, U-96, 2 Unlimited, Corona, Felix, La Bouche, Army Of Lovers, Capella, Crystal Waters, Leila K, Robin S, Olive, Utah Saints, Madonna, Michael & janet jackson, Salt N’ Pepa, En Vogue, Whitney Huston, Black Box, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, KLF, Moby, Deep Dish, Josh Wink, Faithless, Daft Punk, Orbital, The Beloved, Underworld, Everything But The Girl, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, etc.), in case you’re feeling nostalgic. 23:30-morning, free entry all night long. Bring ID as it’s for people 23+.
Thursday Day
The parties continue all through the day for those still standing.
The traditional Israeli habit of the Independence Day BBQ gets a twist with a street party outside Shipudiyat Haachim at Ibn Gabirol 12. It’s a free party organised by the good people at Michatronix from 13:30 – 22:00. Eclectic music from the 60s onwards and a live show by local band The Fifties followed by an electronic set from one of the guys from Computer Camp. Cool people and lots of food.
Or you could head over to the Taxidermy Bar on Harakevet 18 for another free party from 14:00-4:00. Lots of DJs, not sure of the styles – some electronica, some local stuff (including live show by Zeev Tene) and lots of BBQ food.
And last but not least… From 21:00 onwards there’s a women’s party at the Comfort 13 organised by lesbian party organisers Chart Party and friends.

Nothing in Florentin?
No street party as far as I know, but some of the bars/cafes will be having events so if you want to stay local just have a look around 🙂
