Big party weekend in Tel Aviv coming up

party If you’re lucky enough to be in Tel Aviv this week, you’re going to be spoiled for choice. But how many of these awesome parties can you fit into your schedule?

Teder closing weekend – Tel Aviv’s own pop up radio has reached the end of yet another season and is celebrating it all weekend long. It starts with Gilles Peterson at the Block Club on Thursday (tomorrow) night from 22:30 (Peterson on early at 23:30 so don’t turn up at midnight like a local). Tickets for that are 70NIS if you buy them in advance, which you totally should. Friday at lunchtime there’s going to be a marathon of life acts outside of Teder itself (Har Sinai 5) which will be free of charge. Some fine Israeli alternative musicians in action, followed by an evening of alternative music from the Kol HaCampus radio DJs, if you want to stick around, have a drink and a listen before heading off anywhere else to party.

Saturday from noon till the police come there’ll be a marathon of all the station’s DJ playing the best in alternative music for what is bound to be a massive crowd of cool Israelis. Let this one be your afterparty, if nothing else!

But this is only one part of this massive weekend.

On Friday, the Block is hosting UMEK, the Slovenian techno king and Zizi is hosting none other than PEACHES! Yup, get your ass down to the club for a gay and straight friendly night headlined by a DJ set from the queen of electro trash. Tickets are 70NIS in advance and 100NIS on the night. Come early if you want to get them on the night. Doors open at 23:30. Otherwise, try your luck at Cafe Sheleg in town or the Zizi club itself beforehand.

But as if that wasn’t enough to start thinking about where to go, there’s also another tiny little event with this guy coming over from the UK…A DJ… oh what’s his name again? Oh yeah, Mr. C.! That’s right, Mr fucking C is going to be playing at the Maxim club on Saturday as well. Do I even need to tell anyone who Mr C is and why you should go and see him? Didn’t think so. Doors at 23:30 and tickets are 90NIS on the door.

And if you’re into dubstep, there’s something for you as well. Friday at the Ozen Bar has Wobble Strike with hip hop infused dubstep. Quite a few good DJs – Nasty Habit, Pipe, the Submob Crew and the Masss Dubstep crew. Only 40NIS entry and it actually starts at 00:30 between Friday and Saturday.

Phew! Better start researching good hangover cures already, people. I recommend shakshuka, unless you’re vegan 🙂
