Bummer. One of my favourite places in town, the Anna Loulou bar in Jaffa, just got hit with a temporary closure order by the police for some insanely minor violations of the city code (namely, having people drinking outside the bar and having a few extra people inside). So the place is going to be out of commission for a week, which is going to be a major blow to them. To help make things less likely to close the place down, they’re moving all of the week’s parties to other bars around town. Most will be free, apart from one big one that they will charge for so they can get back some money they need to pay their rent. Here are the parties an their locations. Go, buy some booze, help these people out and have fun.
Tonight at Abarbanel 5 (down the alleyway) enjoy some techno and hip hop from 22:00 till late with “tea and salami”.
Tomorrow from 22:00 at the Alla Rampa bar, Muhammad Jabali will be blasting everything that’s new and unusual in the world of current Middle Easter/Arabic music.
Sunday at Uganda Tel Aviv is depression Sunday. Listen to all your favourite tearjerkers and be ironically sad.
Monday at Har Sinai 2 – alternative Middle Eastern/Arabic music
Tuesday – Greek / Mediterranean music at the Neptune Motel, Geula 51
This will be the big party with Muhammad Jabali and Eyal Sagui Bizawe playing new Middle Eastern beats. I’ll update on location as it’s yet to be decided, but this party will be the only paid one of the lot.
