Yeah, I know he’s dead, but his music will be alive forever. Especially in Israel where reggae seems to be more popular than sliced bread. So for Bob Marley’s would be birthday celebrations, some of Israel’s favourite reggae, world music and rock musicians are getting together for a giant night of music. They’ll be doing Bob Marley covers, but don’t let that put you off if you’re not a major fan. These are some of the best people in the business here, so it’ll be great. There are two nights – Thursday and Saturday, both at the Barby Club. You can go to both nights for 169NIS or for one night for 119NIS (though they are still selling discounted tickets for 99NIS per night). Frankly, both nights look awesome and have loads of performers.
9/2 (Thur/ tomorrow) has Riff Cohen, Los Caparos, Mosh Ben Ari, Tomer Yosef, Axum and loads loads more, including people from Shotei Hanevua, Matbooja project, Zvuloon Dub System and more.
Saturday (11/2) has many of the same people, but it has Alaev Family, Asaf Avidan, Omri Glikman and some other surprises (but not Riff Cohen, sadly).
Get your tickets from this Hebrew link (it has just about enough English to make it workable) if you want to buy a ticket for one night. A ticket for both nights can be bought from Mr Ticket. Their site only has Hebrew on it (here’s the link to the order page) but you can also call them on 03-5611101 and their offices are in Tel Aviv, so I assume you can go and pay in cash if you so choose.
