I’ve been somewhat quiet over the last few days, because I was in transit on the way back to Tel Aviv and also because with one of my favourite parts of Israel being on fire, I wasn’t really in the mood to think about parties.
Well, here’s something good that’s happening towards the end of the month (24-25 December, so Christmas, really) you might want to be involved in if you’re in Tel Aviv.
Mitlabshot al ze is an annual charity clothes / fashion sale that raises funds for the Tel Aviv help centre for victims of sexual assault. Lots of local designers donate old stock, samples and slightly damaged (and sometimes very damaged. Boo) clothes, shoes and accessories to the sale, plus books and all kinds of weird things and all proceeds go to help fund the centre’s work. It’s a big jumble sale and you can sometimes find some neat things, especially if you’re very small or very big in shape, as those sizes are not very popular.
Often, you can find some really weird and ugly things to laugh at, at the very least.
There is currently a volunteer drive to help with this project. They need people before, during and after the event. Obviously, if you speak Hebrew it’s a big plus, but they do need help with setting up and taking down the event closer to the time and with collection of clothes and things, which I’m sure you could do with basic or no Hebrew. If you’re interested in helping, call ASAP as they are already looking for people to do some stuff now.
