Things to do in Tel Aviv 9-14/2/15 including Valentines Day

gig

Another week and another load of great things to do around town and yes, there is plenty of stuff to do for Valentines Day, both as part of a couple and as a single person looking for action.

You may have noticed the new look of this blog. If you scroll down the sidebar, you’ll see a little event feed straight from the DIY Tel Aviv app, which has even more events. The app itself has even more and yes, I’m in the process of grappling with Apple’s monstrous submission process still, but the app will be coming to you iPhone users very soon (but seriously, if you knew what a pain in the ass it is to create apps for iOS, you’d wonder why anyone does it!)

Tonight (Monday)

Going on till Friday, there’s a pop up designer store at Masaryk 17, with lingerie, swimwear and even some clothes from Ugly Duckling, dreamy dresses and separates from Pioo Pioo, plus more fashion and jewellery from local young designers. Mon-Thu 10:00 – 19:00, Fri 10:00 – 14:00

*

Jamshid Sisters @ Bar Kayma from 21:00. Lovely melodic stuff. Free (but donations encouraged).

Tomorrow (Tuesday)

An evening with authors Ned Beauman (UK) and Nir Baram (Israel) at Sipur Pashut bookstore from 19:00. Free. Full details here (scroll for English). I’d just like to point out at this point that Sipur Pashut is the only place in Tel Aviv where you can buy a physical copy of the DIY Tel Aviv guide, so…you know 🙂

*

The talented Luna Abu Nassar plays Ozen Bar from 22:00. Highly recommended if you enjoy singer-songwriter stuff. Beautiful music with a punch. 50NIS on the door.

Wednesday

Avishai Cohen and his Israeli band / ensemble the Big Vicious play the Pasaz from 21:00. This is a rock / jazz / groove / psychedelic ensemble with guitars and percussion but no bass.

Thursday

Wolf Eyes @ Levontin 7 from 22:30. Highly rated noise / industrial / experimental music from the States with support from doom dubbers Lietterschpich.

*

From 17:00 – late there will be acoustic punk / rock and other underground style gigs in the underground passage next to the Savidor (central Tel Aviv) train station. Loads of bands playing. Obviously, free of charge.

*

Balkan Bamachsan launching their debut single at Pasaz from 22:00.

Friday

UPDATE: This has been moved to March 6 because of the storm! The already legendary Moon Art print sale heads to the Ozen Bar from 12:00 – 20:00 and you can pick up some beautiful works by local artists very cheaply. There will also be T shirts, postcards and other artistic things. Free entry.

Saturday

Zehava Ben with a full band show @ The Pasaz from 21:00, followed by a mizrahi / world music dance party by the Laissez Passer crew. Band on stage at 23:00. Tickets 50NIS.
