Busy busy week this week with lots of amazing things happening. Watch out for the Fun Fun Festival!

Tonight

Persian night at the Zakaim vegan restaurant from 20:00. DJ Ziba will play Persian music from classical to pop and, of course, you can enjoy a vegan meal in possibly the coolest looking vegan place in town. Call 03-6135060 to book a table.

Lucille launching their album at the Barby with lots of famous guests including Axum, Adi Ulmansky and more. From 20:30. Tickets 50-60NIS. More details and links to music here. It’s going to be a big big show so if you like hip hop, go.

Fanzine Marathon at the library! Just in time for this Thursday’s fanzine festival (see below), you can lock yourself at the Yung Yiddish place tonight from 21:00-9:00 and create a fanzine for the festival. They will provide: A4 & A3 paper, photocopiers, desks, cheap beer, food, hot drinks. You bring: ideas, tools to cut with, stuff to glue with, paint, inks, pictures and whatever else you need to create your pieces, a sleeping bag. Arrive between 21:00-midnight, leave tomorrow with a complete project! Yung Yiddish – Central bus station, 5th floor, artist zone (Studio 500). 10NIS to cover costs gets you in.

Wednesday

Reflector party at the Abraxas from 21:00. A free night of current alternative music (all from the past year). They’ll be raffling off a ticket to the Cults gig (6/4).

The Fun fun festival – Israel’s dedicated fanzine festival celebrating DIY culture is back. Not entirely sure of location yet, hopefully in the central bus station but it’s still not 100% settled. Keep watching this blog for info, as this is one of the best events in town – live music, performance, a market with some amazing fanzines and rare art and fashion. Do not miss if at all possible. It is, of course, free.

Friday

Free School at Pele (Rival 25) from 10:00-18:00. Lots of people giving workshops about everything from yoga to meditation, writing, cooking, lots more. Also – a big communal meal will be prepared and there will be live music. Suggested donation to cover costs – 30NIS, but no one turned away if broke.

Casino San Remo is hosting the Auerbach Record Salon from 13:00. You’ll be able to buy techno & house vinyls, enjoy a beer in the sun and listen to some top DJs playing records from the stock so you can hear how good they are. Free.

Karaoke night at Levontin 7 – mad singing, lots of hipsters and drunk people. Should be hilarious. From 21:30. Free or very cheap.

If you’re going to the Midburn event in June or are thinking of going, you might care to know the first DPW meeting is
happening on Sat. This is the team that builds the event from scratch and then takes it down again. Find out how to get involved here.

Sunday

Inbar’s awesome vegan cooking workshop is back, signalling the new round of workshops teaching you everything from how to cook an entire healthy and decadent vegan meal from start to finish to dedicated workshops about sweets, chocolate-making and dips.
