Tonight at the Teder: a free English language lecture about Tel Aviv musical history

event If you’re interested in learning about the music that’s provided Tel Aviv’s soundtrack from 1948-88 then head down to the Teder bar tonight where there will be a fascinating free English language lecture (plus DJ sets with musical examples). Here’s the blurb from the Facebook event page:

Hear here: “Tel Aviv School of Music” (HaChug), Teder and the Tel Aviv Arts Council bring you a special night, in which Sagol 59 will take you on a 40 year trip through Tel Aviv’s rich musical history. From Israel’s declaration of independence and the music played in cafes on the promenade, to the birth of Israeli Rock, oriental “Cassette Music” and the city’s New Wave scene of the decadent 80’s
The lecture is in English, and will be broadcast live on Teder.fm, recorded and added to the Teder and HaChug’s archives
After the lecture Yashiv Cohen will step into the Teder’s van-come-studio for a surprising strictly-Israeli DJ set

Sagol 59 (Khen Rotem) is an Israeli musician, writer and music critic.

The event is free of charge, but you need to sign up via eventbrite.
