Shopping for Passover presents is generally the Israeli equivalent of the nightmare before Christmas. So I like the fact that Achoti shop, the fair trade store are having a street party today at 17:00. There’ll be danceable world music from Ophir Toubul, 10% on everything in the store and possibly some refreshments too. It’s such a good excuse to buy something special as a gift, instead of some mass produced crap. Everything in the store is made by local women from various backgrounds and ethnic groups, so you know your money is going to a good cause.
While we’re on the subject of buying fair trade products as gifts, you might also want to visit the Sindyanna of Galilee offices at Haaliya 45 from 9:00-17:00 till Thurs (Fri if you speak to them in advance) where you can buy gift baskets with their products – soap, olive oil, honey, zaatar, etc.). 03-5373268
