The Tel Aviv Cinemateque will be hosting the 10th international festival of comics, caricature and animation this week, from 17-21 August. There’s a busy programme of workshops and seminars, mostly in Hebrew but with a few exciting international guests. There is also an impressive programme of animation films, both local and international, so at least some of the stuff will be in a language you understand. There will also be stalls selling all kinds of relevant stuff by local artists and things.
Their website basically sucks. It sucks even if you read Hebrew and I just saved you the opening Flash movie, too, which would have made it suck even more.
Here are some quick links to stuff you might be interested in:
Caricature programme (scroll down to the bottom for the English lecture with Mordillo)
There is also another Mordillo seminar in the kids’ section and one other mixed English / Hebrew lecture in the comics section, as far as I can see.
Unfortunately, they seem to have made everything in image form, so I am not even sure Google Translate would work on this site.
You can get more info at info@animixfest.co.il or via the Cinemateque.
