Tel Aviv Musix Parade this Friday

This Friday 9/7 from 12:00PM – 6:00PM there’s going to be a big music parade on the Tayelet (beach front) and Charles Clore Park. Lots of floats making their way slowly down the road by the beach playing all kinds of music. It’s going to be huge (biggest in the Middle East, apparently), it’s going to be incredibly commercial (supported by the city council and Pelephone, one of Israel’s big mobile phone networks) and it’s going to be absolutely rammed. Still, might be fun, especially if you’re drunk. Feel free to dress up if you so choose. This is Tel Aviv so people don’t tend to go that crazy with their outfits, but a funny wig or hat wouldn’t go amiss (plus I think people should always be encouraged to dress up more for these things).

You can catch the Barzilay Club float with a slightly more alternative music for you to enjoy, including TABAC soundsystem who’ll be pumping out their usual blend of dubstep, dancehall, hip hop, etc. I’m sure there’ll also be plenty of house music and trance as well – it’s Israel after all. As I gather, it’s not all going to be dance and electronic music, so even if that’s not your bag, you’ll be able to find something you like. There will be plenty of afterparties going on all over town so you won’t have a problem finding somewhere to party the rest of the night away. I’ll post some interesting ones if and when I find them.

As a special service to my readers, I’d like to point out that clean(ish) toilets exist in the Opera Tower where Allenby street ends by the sea.
