This party was last year (2011). You want the 2012 NYE party post which lives here.
Seeing as I’m getting a lot of messages about a lot of NYE parties in Tel Aviv, I thought I’d start a new category for them here. I’ll be covering anything I can find that looks different, alternative, interesting or just plain fun.
First, here’s one that will mostly be interesting to you if you’re into the roaring 20s. Dance Tel Aviv (in the guide) are having a 20s style ball in their studio. There’ll be live music from the New Orleans Function Jazz Band and charleston dancing. There’ll also be wine and refreshments. Tickets are 80NIS in advance and a 100NIS on the door for non-students. They will supposedly have a dress code of 20s wear (“pearls, feathers, gangster hats”), but knowing Israel and Tel Aviv, I expect it will be quite flexible, as people here aren’t always the dressiest. You could probably get away with a wink to the style rather than full blown, but I reckon it’ll be more fun if everyone makes an effort. Also, it’s more likely to be aimed at slightly older people, rather than the cool vintage freaks who go to such parties in Europe. I suggest you go if you like jazz and jazz dancing and want to do that all or most of your evening / night.
If you want to learn how to do the charleston before the night, there’ll be a workshop that week at the school, but you supposedly need to sign up by the 20th (so in two days).
