Tel Aviv SlutWalk March 16

Love it or hate it, agree with it or disagree with it, the SlutWalk is coming to Tel Aviv this March 16th.

The SlutWalk movement started after a Canadian cop was quoted as saying that in order to stay safe and not become victims, women need to stop dressing up like sluts. This was in January 2011. Since then, there’s been SlutWalks all over the world to reclaim women’s right to dress up however the hell we want without being sexually abused. With all the recent flappage about women’s rights in Israel, this should be an entertaining one. There are also Slutwalks planned for Haifa and Jerusalem. I expect the Jerusalem one to be especially “fun”.

The Tel Aviv walk will leave Gan Meir at 11:00 and head towards Kikar Rabin. The whole thing will finish there at 14:00. Come dressed like a “slut” or come wearing anything else. How you dress is your own business. Men are welcome as well, of course.

There will also be a sign making session in Gan Meir the evening before (15th) for those who want to get even more involved.
