30 Sept. 2010, 9:00PM. If you’re in Tel Aviv, you want to be at the Opera House in Tel Aviv for Joanna Newsom’s one and only Tel Aviv show. She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I saw her live at ATP festival this year and she blew me away in so many ways it’s unreal.
I am posting it early to give you a chance to sort yourself out with a ticket ASAP. They are selling out FAST.
It’s not a big venue.
The Opera House’s website supposedly has English on it, but the way they’ve done it is a bit random, with things like the calendar being in Hebrew only, rendering the whole thing useless unless you speak Hebrew. I can’t even point you at the half-English event page, because they seem to have some weird system in place that doesn’t give you a proper URL for each page. I don’t know how such a respectable body gets away with having such a useless website. Oh well. Welcome to Israel.
Here’s a link to how you can buy tickets over the phone, in person or maybe online too by emailing them. At 219NIS (ouch!) it’s a bit, well, fucking expensive, to say the least. But if you can afford it, I’d say go go go. The venue is geared for a voice such as hers and it will be an unforgettable evening.
