Cool stuff happening in Tel Aviv 15-21/6/14

gig

Another week is upon us and here are some things you can do this week that aren’t parties (apart from the one cool early week party that somehow got in). For more listings, tune in today at 18:00 to the DIY Tel Aviv show on TLV1.fm, hosted this week by my lovely co-host Nitzan Pincu.

Today

First, not really an event, but might be useful.
If you happen to be a student and are in need of somewhere good to study for the upcoming exams, head over to Maze 9 where there’s a free space with free wifi, coffee, personal and group workstations and the joy of being surrounded by other stressed out students. It’s open 9:00-24:00 Mon-Thur, 9:00-17:00 on Fri and 9:00-22:00 on Sat.

Farthest South launching their new album, Neurim at Tmuna Theatre from 21:30. Neurim is the band’s response to Ron Dahan’s book Neurim, about the Lebanon War. The music is completely improvised each show, creating a unique (and intense) experience. Tickets 40NIS.

Global beats and mashup party at Solo (Yehuda Halevi 46) from 22:00. Great party crowd expected. The dress code is circus, so come wearing your stripes, top hats, feathers and leotards.
Here’s a taster of a set by DJ Bush Beats who’s one of the people playing. You can get in for as little as 10NIS before 23:30 if you get your name on the list. Ask how on the event page.

Tuesday

If you’re not in Blumfield Stadium enjoying The Hives, UBK and The Pixies (I think there are some tickets left, if you want to do that) then there are a few other cool things to do:

The CCA is having an outdoor screening of Alien from 19:30. A Hebrew introduction and discussion of the film will be followed by the screening. Free. More details here.

Meanwhile, Cinema Garage (Zevulun 11) is having a free outdoor screening of Miyazaki’s Valley of the Wind from 21:30. Not sure if it’s the English dubbed version or the English subtitled version. Free.
