If you’re in Tel Aviv for slightly longer than tourist time, you may be interested in this. A while back, some fuckers threw a molotov cocktail into a makeshift kindergarten for asylum seekers’ children that’s been set up in the south of Tel Aviv. The place was set up in someone’s house and the attack happened at night, so the only people present were the couple who live there and they weren’t hurt, but much damage was done. Now some good people have set up a kindergarten / day care centre again and they need help. Asylum seekers work very hard and the kids are often there for very long hours. They need people to help run the place as well as donations of cash and equipment. I am not sure what sort of time commitment or duration commitment they expect from volunteers, but I’d say if you’re here for a month or more, then check them out.
