{"id":3,"date":"2009-12-14T02:32:37","date_gmt":"2009-12-13T22:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.diytelavivguide.com\/blog\/?p=3174"},"modified":"2009-12-14T00:47:47","modified_gmt":"2009-12-13T22:47:47","slug":"good-night-tel-aviv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diytelavivguide.com\/blog\/tel-aviv-stuff\/good-night-tel-aviv","title":{"rendered":"Good night Tel Aviv!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First post from Tel Aviv, as I struggle to stay awake and realise there is actually no particular reason for me to stay awake in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t know me, I&#8217;ve come here to escape the British winter and to write an alternative city guide to Tel Aviv, they city I more or less grew up in.\u00a0 I&#8217;m writing this post in my cousin&#8217;s place in the Shapira neighbourhood, which will probably not get much mention in my guide because it&#8217;s a bit &#8220;special&#8221;, even when you take into account the fact that I am to be writing an alternative guide.\u00a0 It also doesn&#8217;t have much in the way of anything likely to be of interest to tourists, even alternative ones, apart from a bit of history and its proximity to the central bus station, the tachana merkazit. It is, however, a bit up and coming now the last rundown shithole neighbourhood has peaked as the next big thing and is steadily becoming more gentrified. Who knows? Maybe I&#8217;ll uncover some gem.<\/p>\n<p>So here I am on my second night here and after my first full day. The weather&#8217;s been lovely, I have a new second-hand bicycle I got off <a href=\"http:\/\/telaviv.craigslist.com\" target=\"_blank\">Craig&#8217;s list<\/a>, I returned to my favourite yoga place for a wicked ashtanga class and I am now sharing a sofa with a dog after sharing one with a cat last night.<\/p>\n<p>My cousin&#8217;s neighbour on the other side of the wall is a crazy homeless guy called Moshe who likes to yell and swear at God at random times of day and night.
